Newcastle Kids Outclassed
Stoke Under 18s 4 Newcastle Under 18s 1
Summer acquisition Olivier Kemen was unable to prevent Newcastle’s under 18 team slipping to defeat away to Stoke City.
A side lacking in experience and numbers due to several injuries, were second best throughout the game; trailing 3-0 at half-time.
After three losses on the bounce, the Stoke City youngsters wasted no time in getting their season back on track; notching the first goal of the game after only six minutes. After this, United threatened a comeback, even hitting the post before Stoke struck again: this time unlucky United captain Ryan McKinnon put through his own goal to make the score 2-0 to the home side.
Yusuf Coban then put the result beyond doubt for the hosts, before the half-time whistle blew.
Just past the hour mark, Ed Sanders, the Potters’ captain, completed the rout with a headed finish before Callum Roberts got a consolation for the Magpies with a free-kick from 20 yards out.
Newcastle’s youngsters will look to banish the memories of this disappointing day out next Saturday morning when Manchester City’s youth team visit the North East.
