Newcastle Full-Back Heading Home

Newcastle United’s promising youth prospect Paul Dummett will be heading back to his international home as he has been called up to the Wales senior squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches.

‘Dummy’ has represented Wales at youth and under-21 level and has already been an unused substitute for the senior side during the last batch of international matches.

The young Welshman has forced his way into Alan Pardew’s thoughts for his Newcastle United side after a string of impressive displays for the reserves and in United’s pre-season friendlies. Dummett has appeared both in the Premier League for Newcastle – as a substitute in the opening day defeat to Manchester City – and in the Capital One Cup against Morecambe and Leeds United.

Having been on standby for most of this week, the left-back received the call-up on Thursday afternoon and will be a part of Chris Coleman’s squad for the upcoming Ground A fixtures.

To top things off, Dummett will be hoping to get his chance for Newcastle at Cardiff after some poor defensive displays in the lats two Premier League matches.
