New Opening For Newcastle’s Man From Peru?

Former Newcastle United winger Nolberto ‘Nobby’ Solano has applied for the vacant manager’s position at Football League side Bury FC.

Solano had been managing Universatario de Deportes in his native Peru, but left that post in December 2012.

Nobby has now set his sights on management back in England, where he made over 230 appearances for United over two spells on Tyneside.

The position has become available after Bury parted company with manager Kevin Blackwell after only 13 weeks of his being in charge. Blackwell said “It has been a very tough time while I’ve been at the club; an interesting 13 weeks. We found it difficult in pre-season and difficult to get a team together, but they’re a fantastic club and I wish them well.”

Other names also linked with the job are former Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean and ex-Leeds and Coventry striker Noel Whelan.
