Loic Remy On His Furture ‘What Happens Next I Do Not Know’
The history of Newcastle United tells us that what players say and what they actually do, are often two totally separate things.
So many times they’ll be kissing the badge one minute and declaring undying love for the black and white cause…before signing for somebody else.
The loan signing of Loic Remy was always going to have that extra layer of doubt due to his very late decision to ditch Newcastle in January, choosing instead to go to QPR who were already waist up in the Championship.
However, like every other player who pulls on a Newcastle shirt, if they do the business on the pitch then everything else takes care of itself.
With five goals in only three starts, Remy has certainly done that, but fans might possibly have hoped for a more enthusiastic response when the player was asked about where his future lay;
“I’m really enjoying it here. What happens next I do not know.
I don’t regret joining QPR but now it is down to me to do the best I can for Newcastle because they did come back for me.
My record is 17 goals in a season and if I can do more than that it would be great.”
With Papiss Cisse off the pace so far this season in terms of goals and much of his all round performance, the weight of expectation on Remy to score the goals has massively increased.
If Remy continues his form then fans will be desperate to see decisive action in January to try and secure a long-term deal, as if it drags on until the summer then hopes of a permanent signing will begin to fade as QPR and/or Remy will surely be seen to be keeping their options open.
