Jekyll & Hyde United
For the third game in a row Newcastle United play games with the fans nerves and perform the 90 minutes as two different teams.
Against Hull the team was great in the first half and should have scored more than the two goals in those exciting 45 minutes.
A week later and a trip to Goodison Park that everyone expected a defeat in, started with a disastrous 45 minutes and in the 2nd half a proper team showed up. Everton conceded for the first time at home this season and then we added another but it was a bit too late as Jekyll has already cocked things up in the 1st half.
Now to the 3rd one! Well, it was almost identical to Hull except that the opposition was useless and couldn’t score the few chances they had and we got away with it.
What is wrong with the team? Why can’t they play for 90 minutes? Or even 70 minutes?
To me it was clear that the most lacking thing in the team was a leader, a passionate man who wants to win and would give the slackers a kick up the backside. Pardew needs to work during the international break with the lads and solve this problem as it is Liverpool next and the two strikers they have will give no mercy and punish the defenders every time they blink.
Some might say it is an overall good collection of points after 7 games with the team gathering 9 points more than Sunderland and only just behind (what used to be) the mighty Man United on goal difference.
It’s a dodgy situation though as at times we look like easily a top 6 team, then half an hour later bottom 3 contenders. Strange.
