If Any Of These Players Appear v Manchester City We’ll Know Pardew Has Thrown In The Towel

Where are Newcastle United heading under Mike Ashley.

Where do Alan Pardew and Joe Kinnear fit in with the madness at Newcastle United? We asked Mag columnist Jonnie S for his thoughts.

Who would you blame for the Sunderland defeat?

The Players and the fact the Makems wanted it more.

Which players were weak links in the team and who deserves any credit?

I point the finger at Gouffron, Sissoko, Remi and Cisse when he came on. We carried these players – frankly they hardly touched the ball and never wanted it. Tiote and Cabaye ran the midfield – the only plusses.

Were Sunderland good or Newcastle rubbish?

We were rubbish. When we scored I said to my mate – now take the game and win it – we sat back and gave the initiative away. The key 20 minutes.

Which eleven would you choose to try and get into the last 8 of the League Cup on Wednesday?

Krul, Santon, 2 Centre Backs that are fit including someone tall?? Dummett left back: Midfield 2 of Tiote and Anita with Cabaye pushed ahead. Then Sammy left, Ben Arfa right and Cisse up front after a rocket. Remy/Sissoko on bench.

Which eleven do you guess Alan Pardew will actually play?

Tricky but I suspect not a million miles different. If Shola, Marveaux and Obertan play (or any of them) we know he has thrown in the towel.

Do you think Pardew will have total freedom to pick the 11 or do you think  he will have strict orders to play a weakened team?

Not sure it is as straightforward as that. I do not think he is told such as Abramovich tells Chelsea managers but woe betide him if he loses and Krul/Cabaye/Ben Arfa/Remiyare injured. Having said that, I do think he would like to win and actually if he gets sacked does he care?

What do you think of Ashley’s decision to ban the local journalists from contact with Alan Pardew after the Chronicle covered the protest march before Liverpool?

I just hope that the papers see enough is enough and instead of being soft on Ashley really start to investigate what he is doing and raking out of the club. Whether they will, clearly depends if they and the Mirror Group are prepared to risk advertising revenue. When Ashley no doubt will threaten to withdraw it. This I am sure has kept the journalists at bay for so long – it is so much easier for them to target politicians, celebrities and even individual players than business leaders. To coin a phrase ‘Sh*t scared of Ashley’.

It is also one of the reasons I presently dislike the BBC – they do not operate on advertising revenue and therefore could do some digging but they don’t – they have easier targets. Go on BBC justify yourself. I honestly think they are the critical beast here on ousting Ashley.

Do you think Pardew will last the season?

I really do not know – until we fathom out the hold Ashley has on him, it is impossible to answer.

If he left do you think it is a foregone conclusion Kinnear would take over?

What do you make of what is happening at the club off the pitch?

The club is simply being ripped apart by Ashley. Do you know, I just do not think he cares – it is simply a game for him (small fry on a business front) that he plays with for his mates. He can play with the fans and he knows it, part of a typical power crazy business man.

Where do you think we will finish this season?
