‘I Have A Dream’ – Geordie Hero Shows No Fear

7 years ago

While many of us were having nightmares before the visit of Liverpool, one Newcastle player revealed ‘I Have (Had) A Dream’.

Paul Dummett has revealed that on the Friday night before his stunning performance and goal, he actually had a dream that he would score his first goal fro Newcastle against the scousers on Saturday.

Hearing Dummett talk after the match it was great to hear what it clearly meant to him and now he has recounted his dream to the Chronicle;

“I actually dreamt about scoring on the night before, so this really is a dream come true. Maybe I should dream about it more often, hopefully I’ll score more that way. To score and get one at the Gallowgate end just makes it even better.

“When I scored I did not know where to run, all the fans were running down the Gallowgate end, it was crazy. That is something I have never experienced before and might never again, you have to cherish those moments.

“I had scored two for St.Mirren but that is nothing like scoring in front of 50,000 Geordies, that is something I have dreamt of all my career.”

It is so difficult for home grown players to come through these days and at Newcastle, Dummett currently has two international full-backs ahead of him in the team.

As Saturday showed though, the important thing is to be ready if you get your chance, Paul Dummett took his with both hands.
