Hatem Ben Arfa Shows Support For Local Heroes
Hatem Ben Arfa is having a start to the season which mirrors his overall career to date, we’ve had the highs of his display against Villa right down to the anonymous performance when Hull visited.
Whatever happens, Hatem is a very popular figure back home with the man (and woman) in the street, the brilliance he can produce on the pitch has made him a firm favourite with the French football public and the fact he is a flawed genius maybe makes him all the more adored.
Our French enigma is loved nowhere more so than where he grew up and having spare time during the international break he made a surprise appearance to support his local team back home. Lowly Claye-Souilly were appearing in the fifth round of the French Cup and successfully made it into the sixth.
To put the match into context, there are eight rounds which are essentially qualifying rounds and the same in England before you get to the first round proper.
In France they have eight rounds and then the following one is called the ’round of 64′, clubs needing to win at that stage and then the next four before they would reach the final.
Hatem Ben Arfa did his bit turning up and making a lot of people happy plus helping to cheer them into the sixth qualifying round.
It looks unlikely though as to whether he’ll be seeing them in the final.
