Sunderland Give Away Free Tickets For Newcastle Match

We revealed on Wednesday how Sunderland were struggling to sell tickets for their new manager’s home debut on Sunday.

The Wearside club having announced that tickets would be available to buy right up until the 1.30pm kick-off.

However, those tickets are only available to members of Sunderland who have a ticket purchase history, just in case any black and whites were fancying re-enacting the invasion of the Fulwell end in 1985.

In a desperate attempt to fill the empty rows of pink seats, Sunderland are reported to have been giving out free tickets at many local schools in an attempt to avoid too many embarrassing open spaces.

On top of the ‘ordinary’ fans failing to turn up on their biggest day of the season, the mackems are also heavily pushing more unsold corporate tickets Newcastle’s way as they try to also fill their ‘posh’ seats.

Further evidence that a new manager doesn’t necessarily bring an instant positive reaction on or off the pitch.

As Sunderland fans are proud to always say – FTM (Free Ticket Mackems)
