England Captain Does His Bit For Injured Newcastle Star

Newcastle United’s Ryan Taylor, sidelined for the rest of the season with a knee problem, was at Wembley on Tuesday evening to see England book their place at next summer’s World Cup in Rio de Janeiro.

However, he came home with an unexpected souvenir of the occasion: England captain Steven Gerrard’s match jersey.

Taylor was delighted to receive his fellow Liverpudlian’s shirt and tweeted “Nice touch from the skipper to give me his shirt last night #hero.”

The former Wigan man also gave his Twitter followers an update regarding his injury: “I would love to play from the start of next season. Is it possible, realistically? I think I have to listen to the right people.

I go home every night and see my young son; that’s how I get through. If my friends and family weren’t so supportive I think I would have said ‘that’s me, I’m done.”
