Confirmation Coloccini Missing Long-Term

Not the news you want to hear when you are tucking into your cocopops but it has been confirmed that Newcastle captain, Fabricio Coloccini, is not expected to be back until two moths time at the earliest.

This means that Colo’s groin injury picked up on international duty will keep him on the sidelines until around Christmas or beyond.

The Independent have reported the news of the extended absence and as we reported yesterday, Coloccini has already been allowed to return to Argentina while he recuperates.

This means both our Argentinian duo are/were back in the home country, with Alan Pardew having confirmed that Jonas Gutierrez missed the Liverpool match due to being allowed to return to South America for personal reasons. Whether Jonas will be available for the derby match on Sunday hasn’t been reported.

Thanks to injury, Coloccini only played 22 matches last season and it looks as though that could be about the best we can hope for this season, with hopefully no problems once Colo is back playing.
