Chas and Dave Set For St.James’ Park?

It looks as though Newcastle United are going to follow the lead of our friends down the road and host some gigs in May 2014.

St.James’ Park of course played host to a host of acts including Bruce Springsteen, Queen and the Rolling Stones but nothing has been seen since a really poor turnout for Rod Stewart back in 2007.

Since then the mackems have been given free rein to put on some decent headline acts but at last Newcastle United may now be spreading their wings in generating income from more diverse directions.

‘Aint No Pleasing You…Geordies.’

It has now been reported by nufc.com as per below, that a planning application is currently lodged with Newcastle City Council as follows;

2013/1419/01/DET Temporary change of use of stadium for staging concert over a two day period, up until 11.30pm (24/25 May 2014 and 23/24 May 2015)
Newcastle United – Saint James Park, Strawberry Place, Newcastle Upon Tyne NE! 4ST

The full application with relevant paperwork can be viewed online HERE – stadium plans show a stage to be erected in the East Stand, which would presumably maximise the number of existing seats available, along with pitch standing.

Unconfirmed reports have suggested that the up to now secret gigs will be headlined by Chas and Dave, The Cockney Rejects, East 17 and Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel…
