Alan Pardew Under Orders To Play Weakened Team On Wednesday?

In the aftermath of the derby defeat and with Manchester City next up on Wednesday, we have asked a number of regular contributors some key questions.

First up is Stuart Latimer with his observations;

Who would you blame for the Sunderland defeat?

Extraordinary circumstances – three centre backs out for us and the new Manager effect for them, plus it was an absolutely must-win game for their survival as a club and would have been the last ever derby at the Stadium of Light had we won. Lee Probert didn’t cover himself in glory either. ([intlink id=”35326″ type=”post”]See my article from Friday[/intlink])

Which players were weak links in the team and who deserves any credit?

Cheick Tiote was excellent, Ben Arfa showed he has to be given licence to try things and lose the ball sometimes by contributing to the goal 2nd half. Sissoko and Gouffran didn’t get in the game enough, they’re either hot or cold, and obviously, an out of position, inexperienced Dummett was targeted.

Were Sunderland good or Newcastle rubbish?

Credit it where it’s due, Sunderland were much better than I’ve seen them this season, I’d love to know what their derby win bonus is.

Which eleven would you choose to try and get into the last 8 of the League Cup on Wednesday?

Krul; Santon, Coloccini, Taylor, Debuchy; Tiote, Cabaye, Sissoko; Remy, Shola, Ben Arfa

(Shola was instrumental in the 3-0 Man United home win)

Which eleven do you guess Alan Pardew will actually play?

Krul; Santon, Coloccini, Williamson, Debuchy; Tiote, Cabaye, Sissoko; Ben Arfa, Cisse, Remy

Do you think Pardew will have total freedom to pick the 11 or do you think he will have strict orders to play a weakened team?

Total freedom. I think the Cups ARE the club’s priority yet it’s counter-productive to state that they are.

What do you think of Ashley’s decision to ban the local journalists from contact with Alan Pardew after the Chronicle covered the protest march before Liverpool?

Understandable. I’ve seen journalists refuse to answer questions on Twitter to people who have previously insulted them. Alex Ferguson banned journalists and it didn’t do Man United any harm.

Do You Think Pardew Will Last The Season?

I’d like to think he’s got a 7 year contract in order to be able to lose important games and weather crises.

If he left do you think it is a foregone conclusion Kinnear would take over?

No.

What do you make of what is happening at the club off the pitch?

I think the current situation between the fans and club is counterproductive for everyone and a bridge needs to be made quickly.

Where do you think we will finish this season?

10th and we’ll go all the way in a Cup.
