Alan Pardew ‘I Have Got To Show Faith In Hatem’

With a lot of interest in today’s team selection against Cardiff, Alan Pardew has given a guarded vote of confidence in Hatem Ben Arfa.

The manager has said that he has to show faith in Ben Arfa but that he also has to make sure that Hatem is being a team player.

“The point I would make is that he can reach great heights. That is what we need from him on a more consistent basis, it is something we are going to have to work towards to get it out of him.

I have got to show faith in Hatem but I have to also make sure he does what is right for the team.”

I think for me little has changed with Ben Arfa (17/2 to score first today), you have to accept that at times his form will go up and down, the problem being that leaving him out for the odd match isn’t really an option when the alternatives are so limited.

Obviously you couldn’t persevere forever if he wasn’t producing the goods but surely it is a bit premature to consider leaving him out already after a couple of stinkers against Hull and Everton?
