Alan Pardew Has Good News/Bad News On Whether Taylor & Coloccini Will Make Sunderland

Alan Pardew has now confirmed that his captain Fabricio Coloccini is definitely out of the game at Sunderland next Sunday.

The manager hasn’t given any timescale as to Colo’s return but I think it looks like we might have to expect the worst on the groin injury that the centre-back picked up on international duty.

Alan Pardew told the Hartlepool Mail that;

“Colo definitely won’t be available for Sunderland.”

However, there is better news from the manager on Steven Taylor;

“We think Steven is going to be OK, he was touch and go to train last week but we just held him back.

He did some extra work. We do not really see a problem and hopefully we don’t, but if not we have got a new hero in Paul Dummett.”

With Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa definitely missing through suspension, the manager will probably be more desperate than he lets on to have Taylor available to play alongside Williamson.

I have no doubts that Paul Dummett will be up for it but playing out of position in such a match with so little first team experience for Newcastle, would be a real pressure situation.
