Alan Pardew Claims He Doesn’t Want Sunderland To Be Put Down Like A Wounded Animal

Alan Pardew was caught on the hop a bit today when he was asked a slightly different question at his pre-Sunderland press conference.

The Newcastle manager was asked if basically it would be kinder to put Sunderland down like you would a wounded animal but Pardew didn’t take kindly to the metaphor in the press conference footage that went out on NUFC TV;

Sometimes people use the ‘wounded animal’ phraseology about the team at the bottom being dangerous but sometimes a wounded animal needs to be put down?

“I don’t look at the game in that sort of manner. They are a professional team of professional players and we respect that but it is a derby so we know how important it is to our fans and that is all that matters. We have had really good results while I have been here, apart from the last one.”

Any celebration planned, sliding on your knees?

“Not with my suits, they are too expensive!”
