£6m Price Tag Put On Remy’s Head

There are reports today that Newcastle United are going to try and sign up loan player, :Loic Remy, on a permanent deal in the January transfer window.

The story broken by the Mirror claims that Newcastle have already agreed a £6m fee if the deal if made permanent, on top of the £2m fee paid for the loan period.

The chances of Remy agreeing any potential offer in January would appear to be unlikely, with the player almost certain to see out the season and see what his options are then.

When posed the question recently about staying at Newcastle, Remy spoke positively about United but didn’t commit in any way to doing a permanent deal, yet.

If the £6m price tag is correct then that would represent a major climbdown on the fee QPR paid, with rumours varying up to £12m having been paid but maybe something around £10m nearer the truth.

Major hurdles need to be overcome including Ashley committing to his QPR inflated wages and of course the player choosing to stay, or not.

At least one box may be ticked though if Ashley believes he is getting a relative bargain and one over on QPR who snatched Remy from Newcastle’s grasp in January.
