Sunderland Win Sack Race As Di Canio Leaves

While we are used to a certain level of madness at St.James’ Park, our close neighbours are making a serious attempt at taking the north east top dogs (of madness) title permanently to Wearside.

Tonight has seen Paolo Di Canio go the distance as the mackems cut their losses on yet another bizarre appointment.

Like Roy Keane before him, Di Canio was appointed with no Premier League managerial experience and allowed to spend a relative fortune.

The talk was that one of the things that could keep him in the job was the fact that he’d been allowed to clear out a host of players including their best in the shape of Mignolet and Sessegnon. While at the same time bringing in a ridiculous 14 new signings this summer.

In the north east we tend to do things to extremes.

With Sunderland rock bottom, Ellis Short has pushed the button on his manager.

As a Newcastle fan I’m not sure what to think and it depends on whether they can find an even bigger idiot to replace the Italian. Obviously it is funny to see the mess they’ve allowed Di Canio to create and on balance I’d rather have still had him in charge when they play us next month.

Oh well at the moment we are north east top dogs, though it’s not much to shout about.
