Strong NUFC Line-Up Fails To Beat Everton Kids
Newcastle United U21s 1 – 1 Everton U21s
Newcastle United’s Under 21 side recorded their first draw of the new campaign last night against a young looking Everton eleven.
A watching Alan Pardew saw Adam Armstrong net his fourth goal of the season for the Mags before Hallam Hope made things all square at a floodlit St James’ Park last night.
Having named a strong team – seven of the first XI having had first time experience – coaches Peter Beardsley and Willie Donachie were rewarded for their selection with a positive display from the home side, the one way traffic finally proving fruitful on the stroke of half-time with Armstrong netting after good interplay between Bigirimana, Vuckic and Campbell.
More of the same ensued in the second half, but United were punished for not converting chances when Hallam Hope bundled Christopher Long’s centre.
It’s now just one win in five for Beardsley and Donachie’s men though they will be encouraged by the positive way in which their team approached the game.
