Sissoko Stars But Cabaye Gets World Cup Setback Thanks To Newcastle Cult Hero
Didier Deschamps didn’t select Yohan Cabaye for this month’s world cup qualifiers due to the player’s lack of games in a Newcastle shirt and now Cabaye has received another setback to his Brazil dreams.
Without Cabaye, France played out a scoreless 90 minutes on Friday night despite dominating possession.
Ex-Newcastle character, Temuri Ketsbaia, was the man who oversaw Georgia’s home draw against the French side which puts them three points behind Spain and looking increasingly like they will have to qualify via the play-offs if they are to reach Brazil.
Moussa Sissoko was Newcastle’s sole representative and according to reports was France’s top player, Mathieu Debuchy didn’t make it off the bench.
The goalless draw makes it five games in a row where France have failed to score and to stand any chance of qualifying automatically that will have to change when they play in Belarus on Tuesday.
