Pardew Is Left With No Defence
Things came back down to earth with a bump.
Apart from the opening period of the match up to the first goal and brief flashes afterwards, this was a terrible performance considering the position Newcastle had got themselves into after two wins and considering the level of Saturday’s opposition.
What did Alan Pardew make of the defeat though? This is what he had to say after the final whistle;
“That team which finished fifth, you see similarities with this team but that team had a consistency about it, of performance as a team.
All three goals were poor from us, we looked too loose and gifted goals, you can’t do that against any opposition. We’ve defended really really well in these last few weeks then today…it is the consistency of performance that this team is searching for.”
With his defence all over the place surely then the answer would have been to at least switch things round a bit with the odd substitution but due to no summer spending you look at the bench and see the inexperienced Dummett and Williamson…
