Pardew Feeling The Quality On The Left
Alan Pardew was today urging his promising youthful left-back Paul Dummett to follow the example set by £86 million man Gareth Bale.
“Dummy” was named as an unused substitute in Wales’ two recent World Cup qualifying games and was accompanied on the bench by Bale on both occasions.
The Welsh winger was singled out by Magpies boss Alan Pardew as an example for Dummett to follow.
“I have told him [Dummet] that he’s a left back toda, but so was Bale and now he’s worth £86 million.”
Pardew also spoke of the effect Dummett’s inclusion in the first team squad has had on its existing members, not least regular left back DavideSanton.
“He’s a proper local boy that’s come through the system; everybody loves him. He’s really pushing for the first time, Davide Santon knows that so we might have to see him play at his best to stay in the team, it all goes hand-in-hand.”
