Norwich Midfielder Added To Newcastle’s January List
A recent report has surfaced that Alan Pardew is lining up a swoop for Norwich midfielder Anthony Pilkington, a move mooted to be a replacement for Argentinian mask-enthusiast Jonas Gutierrez.
Pilkington, twice capped for the Republic of Ireland, has played for Norwich City since 2011 after stints with Stockport County and Huddersfield Town, notching 13 goals in 60 appearances for the canaries.
After four games, United sit eighth in the Premier League table thanks to two hard-fought victories against Fulham and Aston Villa, a bore-draw with West Ham and an absolute pasting from Manchester City on the season’s opening weekend.
Few would argue with Pardew’s need for reinforcements, but most would see other areas of the field as needing attention more readily; more experienced cover at centre-back? More options up front?
Pardew has reportedly assigned scouts to keep tabs on Pilkington’s performance levels at Norwich with a view to a move, whether this move happens in January or next summer remains to be seen.
