Newcastle Get Home Draw Against…Manchester City

After a comfortable two goal win against Leeds United, Newcastle have been handed another home draw as a route into the last eight.

With a home draw against the mackems a possibility, instead United have been picked out of the hat to face Manchester City at home.

Exactly how Newcastle will approach this tie is anybody’s guess, with the revelation this week that the club see cup competitions as no kind of a priority.

You can only guess that the starting line-up for that tie against City will depend on what position Newcastle are in with regard to the Premier League table at that time.

On Wednesday night, Yoan Gouffran and Papiss Cisse supplied two quality finishes to dispose of a limited Leeds United, though undoubtedly much more will be needed against whatever eleven Manchester City choose to send out.

On the bright side, at least the nature of the opposition will produce plenty of interest and then it is up to Alan Pardew to prove all of us doubters wrong and put out a team capable of giving Newcastle a chance of reaching the last eight.
