Hatem Ben Arfa ‘Wants To Win The Cup’ – But Will NUFC Let Him?

Interviewed in advance of the Leeds Capital One Cup-tie at St.James’ Park, Hatem Ben Arfa has declared ‘We Want To Win The Cup’.

However, Alan Pardew has already said he’ll play reserves such as Sammy Ameobi and Paul Dummett but will have a ‘strong squad’ for the match.

The best guess from that statement is that there will be a number of other changes to the team as well but with a strong bench, a bench very likely to include Ben Arfa himself.

Of course it was Hatem who came on at Morecambe and won the tie with two excellent assists, previous to that Newcastle had been lucky to survive with Morecambe the better team and United struggling to create any chances.

Speaking to the Shields Gazette this is what Ben Arfa had to say about his cup dream;

“We want to win the cup, we want to win every game as every competition is important. We have to focus on the next game.

I did a big pre-season and the manager told me I had to consistent every game. I have to play every game at the highest level, that is my objective.”

I just hope that the likes of Ben Arfa aren’t sitting on the bench watching the match slip away and brought on too late to influence the result.
