Ex-Newcastle Player Heads Off To Australia
Former Newcastle United youth and reserve team squad member, James Troisi, has signed for Australian outfit Melbourne Victory and will join his new team-mates in Tasmania this week.
Following his release by Newcastle, Troisi has had spells at two Turkish sides in the shape of Kayserispor and GenVlerbigli, before signing for Italian club Atalanta and has now finally moved back to his native Australia on loan.
Despite being on the fringes of the Australian national side for some years, Troisi has never played club football for any team in his home country and new coach Ange Postecoglou spoke of his excitement at finally bringing Troisi home. “At just 25, James is in the prime of his career so we are very excited about what he can bring to Melbourne Victory.
Throughout his time in Europe, James has shown he has the attributes and talent to compete at the highest level of club football. He obviously has a desire to get back into the Socceroos (Australian national team) set-up and the best way to do that is to have a successful A-League season.”
