Cheick Tiote and Papiss Cisse To Fight It Out
Despite winning their respective groups, Senegal and the Ivory Coast were two of ten countries to face a play-off from African qualifying to see who would go to the World Cup in Brazil next year.
Sadly, for Cheick Tiote and Papiss Cisse only one of them will appear in the World Cup finals as the two heavyweights have been drawn against each other.
The matches will take place between October 11th– 15th and November 15th – 19th.
The last competitive meeting in an African Nations qualifier a year ago infamously ended in a riot with Senegal banned from hosting home matches afterwards.
Ivory Coast were leading 2-0 at the time in that African Nations match and were awarded the game, a 6-2 aggregate win over the matches.
I bet it was the draw the two players didn’t want to hear and Ivory Coast will start favourites in the race to Brazil.
