Ben Arfa Reveals His Dreams Of The Future In Interview In France
Hatem Ben Arfa is not just making waves on Tyneside.
Back in France there is much interest as to whether Didier Deschamps will feel obliged to include the Newcastle genius in his forthcoming squads and of course potentially, a trip to Brazil next year.
Our thanks as always to Pierre for the expert translation.
Newcastle – Ben Arfa: “I still dream of the Ballon d’Or”
In a long interview with France Football, Hatem Ben Arfa has expressed one of his personal goals: the Ballon d’Or (award for World Player Of The Year).
After returning to the beginning of his career marked by false starts and unacceptable behaviour that he regrets, Hatem Ben Arfa did not hesitate to reveal that this does not prevent him from thinking big. The Frenchman does not want to waste time.
“Some will once again think I am mad…
At twenty-six years old, I still have plenty of time in front of me. I am not about to describe my career prior to retirement.
I know some will again think that I am mad but I still dream for example of the Ballon d’Or. I am convinced that this is still possible.
It is forbidden to dream? I disappointed a lot of people over the past years, I have even annoyed many too, no doubt. But those people were right. I was not very professional.
I think I gradually changed as I have grown up. I have understood some basic stuff with regards to the strength that a community brings.
I still believe that one day I will be the best player in the world. But my biggest victory will not be that one. It will be of becoming a well-rounded man after overcoming so many obstacles.”
Don’t you just love him.
