Alan Pardew – Newcastle Five Months Ahead Of Schedule!

Alan Pardew has spoken of his delight at his team’s first away win of the season.

After only two away games, United got the win under their belts at Villa Park, the same ground on which they broke their away duck last campaign, however, while last season’s first away win came five months into the season, in January, this season’s first away victory came in September.

“You’re told you ain’t won away yet in press conferences as manager. It builds, so it’s nice to get that one early,” Pardew told the Shields Gazette. “We were in control [against Aston Villa] apart from twenty minutes when they bombarded us with long balls.

Moving on to squad availability, the Magpies’ manager told of his delight at having so many of his first-team available for selection, in stark contrast to last season.

“Everybody – our new fitness regime, the medical staff – has worked really hard and that was reflected in our bench [against Aston Villa]. It makes a difference to have your best players available; I had Sylvain [Marveaux], Sammy Ameobi and Yoan Gouffran all on the bench.”

United face two home games in the space of a week with Hull City in the Premier League this coming Saturday followed by Leeds United in the fourth round of the League Cup, looking to build on their improving early season form.
