Alan Pardew ‘Cisse’s Place Under Pressure If He Doesn’t Score In Next Couple Of Games’
Speaking in advance of the Hull match, Alan Pardew has made clear that Papiss Cisse’s place will be under threat if he doesn’t start hitting the back of the net.
Pointing to other options such as Gouffran and Remy in a more central role, the manager has hinted that he could explore other formations without his main striker.
This is what Alan Pardew had to say to the club’s official TV channel;
“I think that (Papiss Cisse’s lack of goals) is a concern and we have worked hard trying to find avenues for Papiss to get that goal.
Certainly on his side he is working hard and he needs to really concentrate now because he will come under pressure for sure if he doesn’t score in the next couple of games. We have we Remy, we have Gouffran, we have players and that is the competition you need at the top. So therefore a goal for him would be a welcome addition to the squad.
There is always pressure on players, they have to perform. As I say, I think his workrate has been very good but his focus needs to be on scoring goals for us. Hopefully we can create more chances, I think the last couple of games when we have had more options, the opportunities have started to come his way.”
