Alan Pardew – ‘Ben Arfa Is Who The Supporters Pay to See’
As you can imagine Alan Pardew was loving it after today’s match.
There was little surprise that he had a certain player he wanted to talk about after his performance today.
“His (Ben Arfa’s) performance was unplayable, he was on fire. He has the ability to hold onto the ball and explode past 2 or 3 players, this is what the supporters pay to watch.
His concentration today was spot on and if he gets that consistency he will be a real threat for us and…France.
Since Manchester City when everyone overreacted, we have been sound and we look a strong side.
I thought that we carried a big threat today and if we can keep players fit we will be a handful.”
To be fair to the rest of the team, having the likes of Remy and Cabaye on the pitch helped open things up for Newcastle and of course this followed the first three matches when Ben Arfa carried more or less the only real threat to the opposition.
Having a more attacking formation also helped bring out the best in players such as Sissoko and our attack minded full-backs.
The manager had asked for more from Ben Arfa in midweek interviews, today we got more from Hatem’s teammates and everybody benefited, including Ben Arfa himself.
There is no denying that Ben Arfa was the stand out player today and having somebody who you can just give the ball to and expect them to do something is…priceless.
