Alan Pardew Admits – Newcastle Need To Sell Before They Buy

With the end of the transfer window in view, Alan Pardew has been giving us yet another insight into what the situation is. Well, kind of…

With the goalposts never seemingly standing still for a moment where our manager and the transfer window are concerned, here is a reminder of what Alan Pardew said a week ago;

“I think the will is to bring in a player, maybe two, even if nothing else went out of the door.”

The latest update came after the win over Fulham when the manager had this confusing combination of declarations to share with the Chronicle;

“I won’t know if it is his last game for us until 11pm (Monday – transfer window closes).

We have told his agent to play the game, we have got to replace him and can’t afford to replace him before he goes, if he goes.

That bid needs to come in early, if it doesn’t it won’t happen.

Do I think he will go? You can never tell at this football club but we have got replacements in mind and we have got to act quickly if that bid comes in.

We hope to get an offensive player in before 11pm and we are working towards that.

The decision is with us, we make a decision on whether we think it is right at the end of the day – we have only had one bid for him.”

What I take from this jumble of ‘information is a number of things;

Alan Pardew says ‘bid needs to come in early, if it doesn’t it won’t happen’ – well I think what the rest of us would consider early has long since gone by but pretty much all of us don’t think there is any point that will be too late, IF somebody offers enough for any of our players.

Alan states ‘can’t afford to replace him before he goes’ – I think again that we all accept that there is next to no money, if any, that has been available by Ashley to buy anybody, unless money comes in first.

As for ‘hope to get an offensive player in’ – I believe that there is a possibility but if no Cabaye money is forthcoming then find it very hard to think that anything beyond a loan or real bargain will be possible, if anything.
