Alan Paradew Takes The Criticism On The Chin
I find it impossible to weigh Alan Pardew up.
At times I find myself banging my head against the wall as our manager argues that black is white…after arguing the opposite the week before.
This week, as well as raising money for charity, the Steve Harper 20 year celebration match brought together a load of ex-United heroes, including Steve Harper himself, who couldn’t help but use the opportunity to express their disappointment at the shambolic way Newcastle United are being run.
It would have been easy for Alan Pardew to bite back but I was impressed at how he handled it and spoke really well;
“The ex-players that made those comments have earned the right to have an opinion about the club, they have been brilliant servants for Newcastle United.
Our players can only aspire to what they achieved.
We aren’t in a position to compete financially like they did because the game has changed dramatically.
We accept their comments, it is OK. The only answer is to win games and my job is to get my team out there and win games as we did today.
When you’re manager of Newcastle it is a bumpy ride but you just try to be consistent in your work and I try to be that.”
