New Contract Or Shola Move To QPR?
When I saw reports of a possible departure for Shola Ameobi my spirits were briefly raised.
Shola sums up the slide of this club into mediocrity, or worse, bizarrely some fans praising him for his loyalty when over these long years there has never been a bid to turn down!
Even worse you then get real class players like Shay Given who struck it out far too long than was healthy for them and found then their loyalty to United meant they’d left it too late to move elsewhere for the chance of winning something.
Alan Pardew has now commented on the Shola to QPR rumours;
“My position is clear on all players here.
If there is a situation where it is right for the player and right for the club, we will move them on.
In Shola’s case that isn’t where it is at.”
Shola’s job at Newcastle is simply so Alan Pardew can include him as a striking option.
This leading to some outlandish comments from the manager such as last year when it looked like Cisse might miss a match through injury and Pardew said not to worry as Shola and the inexperienced and untried Adam Campbell ‘were breathing down Cisse’s neck’.
I can honestly imagine that unless a miracle is performed and Newcastle actually buy somebody this window, that Pardew and the gang are more than capable of giving Shola yet another contract and then portray it as a ‘good news’ story.
If that happens then I would really be close to calling it a day at St.James’ Park.
