What’s Up With Ben Arfa?

Went to the match at St.Mirren, first I’ve been to this pre-season and it was good to see the team playing it on the ground a lot more than last season although it did fall completely flat in the second half. Thoughts on some players:

Elliot – Didn’t have much to do but his distribution was awful.

Dummett – Played well, looks like he could suitable back-up for Santon, got forward and delivered some dangerous crosses, one defensive lapse in the first half allowed St Mirren to deliver into the box.

Debuchy – Not troubled defensively, took his goal well.

Coloccini – Didn’t put a foot wrong all game, directed the rest of the defence brilliantly.

M’biwa – Will never have an easier game.

Anita – Tidy on the ball and always made himself available but still reservations about his size.

Tiote – Man of the match, kept things simple, didn’t give the ball away once. He did unnecessarily kick the ball into the crowd after the whistle had blown for a foul but went into the crowd at half-time to give his shirt to the kid he hit.

Gosling – Missed a couple of chances but worked hard to support Cisse and got into good positions.

Ben Arfa – Disappointing, about a stone over weight and didn’t look interested.

Sammy – Poor, a couple of good runs but poor first touch and awful decision making which only got worse as the game went on.

Cisse – Looked sharp, great finish for his goal, couple of poor attempts on goal but he kept running and some of his link-up play was great.

Santon – Doesn’t look comfortable on the right.

Vuckic – Impressive half hour, always looking to take his man on and delivered some good balls.

Campbell – Not ready for the first team.

Williamson – Played for 10 minutes and gave away more chances than St Mirren had in the other 80, needs to be sold.
