NUWFC need your help to build on success

It is that time of the year again where every Newcastle fan is glued to their social media and the telebox, looking to see which star names are about to join our prestigious club (well, more like lack of names).

Newcastle fans across the country are gearing up for the start of the FA Premier League season.

The same is to be said of the Newcastle United Women’s team, who are also gearing up for their Premier League campaign with a host of new names on the squad list. To sign up for a season with Newcastle United Women’s Football Club, a player must pay £450 for the privilege, a stark contract from the male game.

This requires the ladies to either secure the money from sponsorship, or to pay out of their own pocket. This is where we need your help. Almost every single fan would happily pay £450 to wear the black and white stripes of Newcastle United and walk out at St James’ Park. This is a pipedream for 99.9% of us, but we can help someone achieve their dream.

Whether it be a donation of £5 or £500, every penny that is raised by Newcastle United Women’s Football Club goes straight into the running costs of the club. Without donations, the club would not exist and would face a similar fate to Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest who are on the brink of folding, despite coming 2nd in the Premier League North last season.

It has been a struggle this summer for Newcastle to hold onto their top talent with both Sunderland and Durham securing FA Women’s Super League status this past year.

Last season’s top goalscorer Stacy Crooks has moved to Durham whilst Player of the Year Charlotte Potts joins Sunderland, along with Centre Back Carla Armstrong.

Without the support of the Newcastle faithful, there may be no Women’s team in the City going forward. The club should be up there with the likes of Sunderland and Durham, but without support from the men’s team, it’s going to be difficult.

If you wish to sponsor an individual shirt, or an individual player, get in touch with myself via @StuOnSport on twitter or through the club website for details. A list of sponsorship packages is available at nuwfc.com.

Or, you may wish to come watch the girls in their campaign. Their season starts with a 2pm Kick-Off against Stoke City at Coach Lane Campus, Northumbria University on Sunday 25th August.
