The Battle To Be Top Scorer
To round off the Premier League review lets have a quick look at the top Goalscorer market.
Robin Van Persie heads the market at 7/2 which I think is short enough.
Is anybody brave enough to back Torres at 25/1? If Jose gets him firing and instils some confidence then they could be big odds come Christmas. However, that’s not a bet for me given his recent record and I no longer think he’ll be the top man up front.
Given our friends at Bet Victor are doing each-way betting for the first four at a quarter of the odds, I think there is some value to be found further down the list.
Forget Torres, I’d rather be with young hot shot ROMELU LUKAKU at 25/1 (each-way 4 places with Bet Victor) who I hope will get plenty of starts down the middle this season. If he does he could be the new Didier Drogba as he scored 17 last season playing for West Brom. Imagine what he’s capable of when receiving top service from Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Lampard and Co.
The other striker who catches my eye at a big price is ALVARO NEGREDO at 25/1 (each-way 4 places with Bet Victor) who Manchester City have signed from Sevilla.
To ensure he hits the ground running they have also brought in his rapid teammate from Sevilla, Jesus Navas, and I think Pellegrini will be looking to centre his team around Negredo, who was the top Spanish scorer in La Liga last year.
If you fancy a more patriotic wager then you just never know with our Senegalese hitman, a hefty 80/1 for Papiss Cisse. On the other hand, we don’t even know when/if we’ll see him on the pitch so I wouldn’t recommend 80/1 Loic Remy to anyone.
