Sunderland Player Arrested Next To St.James’s Park While Mackems Play Cup Match
In what ranks as one you couldn’t even make up, Sunderland forward Stephane Sessegnon has been arrested only a dodgy free-kick away from St.James’ Park.
What is more is the player was arrested at 7.51pm on Tuesday night as Sunderland were playing their Capital One Cup match against MK Dons.
Sessegnon was arrested on Westgate Road in Newcastle City Centre with the police confirming he will appear at Newcastle magistrates’ court on October 4, a spokesman saying;
“At 7.51pm on Tuesday August 27 a 29 year old man was arrested on Westgate Road, Newcastle on suspicion of drink driving.
Stephane Sessegnon, of Runnymede Road, Ponteland has been charged with drink driving and is due to appear before Newcastle Magistrates on October 4.”
Whether Sessegnon was hoping to be talent spotted as he drove by Newcastle’s ground is unclear.
Not flavour of the month for Di Canio already, this episode will hardly have helped Sessegnon’s cause, all every strange for a player who looked their best option last season.
