Respect Coming Joe Kinnear’s Way?
After an agonizing summer of no senior signings we finally managed to land Remy on Monday. For a brief moment there was a sigh of relief amongst Newcastle fans until Pardew revealed that Remy would not be fit for at least the first game of the season and that he hasn’t trained for nearly a month.
This has once again led to many doom and gloom articles about our upcoming season and how we still need to strengthen, but what would it take? What would it really take to make us happy, for me it would be three more.
Yes, it is still apparent that we need another striker, maybe even two, but I’d be happy with one, Bafétimbi Gomis. Despite the saga and many complications that have arisen over this deal, I still believe we will land the striker and if we do I think, believe it or not, old Joe Kinnear will deserve some credit for sticking with it, despite Lyon’s idiocy towards the deal.
Then we move on to the setting up of the goals, in particular left wing, Gutierrez is loyal and hard working but past his best in my opinion, while Pardew does not seem too keen on starting Marveux. The answer ? Tom Ince. It is clear that Pardew wants some English players, even to the point where he’d try and sign Darren Bent, and it is clear that Ashley likes to buy young players, and it is clear that the fans want quality players, the answer? Tom Ince for left wing.
Next is Defence, needless to say ours needs boosting, preferably a centre-back and a right-back but I’d settle for one player who could fill both positions. We have been liked to two players who would do nicely. Rolando; a 27 year old Portuguese international and Cheikhou Kouyate; a 23 year old Senegalese international.
I would have to show my respect to Ashley, Pardew, Kinnear and (even though he already has it,Graham Carr) if we could land three more.
A striker, winger, and center back. A right back and another striker on top of that would be fantastic but that’s just wishful thinking. We obviously need another signing but to put my worries about next season to bed, it would take three.
