Reported Ashley Personally Tells Arsenal They Can Have Cabaye For £20m
Monday brought news of Arsenal offering around £10m for Yohan Cabaye, leading to Alan Pardew kicking off about the timing of the bid and also making clear that the player received the news of the bid via anything but the proper channels.
However, it is now reported in the Telegraph that Ashley spoke to Arsenal’s contract negotiator Dick Law directly and responded to the offer by saying, ‘Which part of him do you want to buy?’
Law then confirmed Arsenal have serious interest in the midfield and they report that Ashley has told them to come back with £20m if they want him.
Whatever Cabaye’s real valuation is, is a bit immaterial to us anyway as Newcastle fans. We are potentially losing our playmaker and knowing the chances of a decent replacement aren’t great.
Whether Cabaye goes for £10m, £20m or 10p is all a bit random if the money isn’t reinvested on the playing side.
