Remy Fit For Newcastle v Fulham?

It is almost eight months now since Demba Ba decided to leave Newcastle United, linked with dozens of strikers since and even claimed to have bid for some of them, there is still no sign of anybody being bought in.

With most leagues now back in full swing and less than two weeks of the transfer window remaining, which knacker club would sell any of their best players…Doh!

After last night’s embarrassing display and total lack of attacking intent, Alan Pardew gave us a striker update;

“We are still short. Until Remy is fit, or we get another striker, it will be a problem for us.

There is nothing for me to immediately add but it is a situation we need to look at very closely.

We have Loic coming back and he is two weeks away. Maybe he might make the Fulham game, West Ham is a bridge too far.”

I’m sorry, but the very fact Alan Pardew is putting out idea that Remy will be back for Fulham, makes me think there is absolutely no chance!

Any fool could see we were short of strikers even if Remy can get and stay fit, so before the questions are really asked about the feeble striker ‘chase’, the manager tries to get a bit of good news out.

Even if Remy was magically fit for that Fulham match, surely it would be ludicrous to consider starting him after some six or seven weeks injured.

So it is back to Cisse marked by four defenders on Saturday…
