Pardew Wants The Fear Factor Back – Don’t Worry Alan It Is Very Much Here…

8 years ago

In a rallying cry to everybody connected with Newcastle United, the Newcastle manager has attempted to rouse the troops.

Urging his team to bring back the fear factor, Alan Pardew’s words will look/sound very ironic to many of us.

This is what the manager has had to say;

Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid

“We need to get that fear factor back and to do that you need to threaten the goal more.

I you are not threatening the goal enough, teams get a more confidence, they score against you and start to believe that they score they will win.

Therefore, you are not only suffering from a lack of confidence, you are also suffering from an over-confident opposition. The year before everybody was fearful of playing us because the results were excellent, home and away.”

Can’t agree more with the WORDS he has said but it is the ACTIONS that are missing.

Last season, especially after Demba Ba jumped ship and no replacement was brought in, the threat to the opposition goal was largely woeful.

In the 25 competitive matches Newcastle played from January onwards, on only 5 occasions did Newcastle score more than once. If you don’t score more than one goal in matches then you need to keep an awful lot of clean sheets and there were only 3 of them in the Premier League from January onwards – bore draws at Norwich and West Ham, plus that last gasp 1-0 win at home to Fulham.

To put this situation right Alan Pardew, Joe Kinnear, Mike Ashley, whoever, have done absolutely nothing. Unless you count bringing in an already crocked on-loan player who did the dirty on us in January and has rape allegations hanging over him.

The fear factor is certainly back at St.James’ Park but it is our fans who have it, not the opposition!

In 8 friendlies, including the Liverpool one, Newcastle have score more than once on only 2 occasions.

I’m sorry, but if we can’t knock in a few in friendlies against the Jocks and Portuguese outfits who normally play in front of two thousand fans, how can you honestly believe that the likes of Man U, Man City, Spurs….Norwich, Southampton, Fulham, will be losing any sleep?

I don’t know about you but I’ve just about given up on seeing the cavalry riding over the hill to save us, no even a hint of hooves kicking up dust in the distance.

Be afraid Alan, be very afraid.

Are we going to see Custer’s (Pardew’s) last stand?
