Newcastle United – The Scottish Connection
What have Frank Brennan, the Champions League, Charlie Buchan, Wyn Davies, Len White and Feyenoord all got in common?
Well they featured in the very first Mag Auctions of classic Newcastle United memorabilia.
Each Sunday a new batch of NUFC collectables with be made available on eBay with prices starting from as low as 99p.
This week has a distinct Scottish feel to the auctions, no surprise really consider Newcastle’s geographical proximity to the border.
Of course at one time no successful English team was complete without a good sprinkling of Scottish players, Newcastle United being no exception; names such as Hughie Gallacher, Jimmy Scoular and Bob Moncur roll off the tongue and they all feature in the Mag Auctions this week.
Many fans also follow Celtic or Rangers as a second team and both clubs feature heavily in friendlies and testimonials over the years.
One match though dominates Newcastle United’s anglo-Scottish past and that of course was the Fairs Cup semi-final double header against Rangers in 1969, there are no fewer than four very collectable auction items connected to that particular European tie.
With a deep love of United’s history and the classic memorabilia and programmes that are a big part of that, we have always intended to bring you our very own auctions.
Delving into Newcastle’s extraordinary history, each week we will be putting a number of items up for auction via eBbay, with prices starting from as a little as 99p.
