Newcastle Midfielder Is Best Of His ‘Type’ At The Club

I saw a headline earlier claiming that one of our midfielders is the best of his type at St.James’ Park, the ‘Type’ being getting up and down the pitch ‘box to box’.

For a minute I thought Joe Kinnear had escaped again because the player featured in the ‘story’ was Dan Gosling.

Hmmm, I have seen Gosling getting box to box on the odd occasion but he doesn’t do it very quickly and never really seen him do much when he gets to either box.

The obvious story on Dan Gosling is that Newcastle took him on the cheap when he was knackered and unfortunately the bad injury he had when we bought him has meant whatever he had at Everton has well and truly gone.

So anyway, it wasn’t JFK making extravagant claims about Gosling, but who then?

Well the hilarious answer is that it is ex-Liverpool and Middlesbrough player, David Hodgson, who these days is…Gosling’s agent.

Well I never, a player’s agent making outlandish claims on the back of one half decent friendly performance at St.Mirren.

Next thing you’ll be telling me he’s trying to get his player a move!

Hodgson on Gosling;

“He has got amazing box to box ability, nobody at Newcastle United could get close to getting box to box like this kid can.”

Good luck to Gosling wherever he ends up, just so long as I don’t hear anybody at Newcastle United saying at the start of September;

‘The breakdown of Dan Gosling’s move to Crystal Palace has now proved a silver lining for Alan Pardew as after signing nobody…’.
