Newcastle Fans Walking Into Civil War Tonight At Rangers

When you have so much to occupy/torture you at your own club, it is easy to miss major crisis elsewhere.

Tonight Newcastle play at  Ibrox and while Glasgow is always a popular fan choice for a jolly, nobody is really in any doubt that the main reason for the choice of opposition is the fact Mike Ashley owns around 5% of the Glasgow club as well as controlling their merchandising.

The natives are anything but happy though and tonight for once it will be the Newcastle fans looking on at a club with fans in open revolt…though ironically down in some small/large way to Mike Ashley, as one of Rangers’ bigger shareholders.

There is currently a power struggle going on to try and oust current Chief Executive Craig Mather.

Charles Green was forced to resign towards the end of last season but recently returned as a consultant. He held a press conference on his return where he stated that Ally McCoist had to win a cup this season and that too much money had been spent on players. Three days later the popular Walter Smith resigned as Chairman and amongst all the furore, Rangers then had a shock League Cup defeat to Forfar.

McCoist has now branded Green an ‘embarrassment’. The fans are not happy.

Exactly where the Newcastle owner fits into all of this is an interesting one.
