Newcastle Fan In Deep Water
Thanks today to Toon-Exile John Atkinson who has sent his contribution in from Bristol;
‘I’m an exiled mag living in Bristol. It’s home now and my 2 lads were both born here but I’ve already brainwashed the pair of them into being black & whiters.
This photo is from last August (2012,) I went to Turkey to swim in the annual Hellespont Swim from Eceabat to Canakkale across the Hellespont Strait. It’s a swim from Europe to Asia. It’s supposed to be 5.5km long but we ended up swimming 8km as the conditions were awful – (this picture is from the practice / qualifying day – the day before the race). A terrifying experience but between me and my mate we raised over £1500 for Clic Sargent (Kid’s Cancer Charity) and the Alzheimers Society.
I’m swimming the Dart 10km down the River Dart in Devon and I’m hoping to raise cash for RNLI. Any chance of a plug?’
