Newcastle United (Under 18s) 3 Sunderland (Under 18s) 0

After starting the season with a couple of defeats, Newcastle’s youngsters at last put points on the board in the best way possible.

The first Tyne/Wear clash of the season saw United totally dominate and run out convincing three goal winners.

The only surprise was that it took until the 42nd minute to open the scoring.

Kyle Cameron sending striker Gilliead away  and he was brought down for a spot-kick, Liam Smith completing the job from 12 yards.

United strolled the second half and with twenty minutes left they killed the game off when Jonathyn Quinn slotted home from the edge of the area.

Just before the final whistle it was Roberts who set up Alex Gilliead for a deserved third.

Job done and well played to the lads in black & white, the full line-up;

Mersin, Sterry, Cameron, Drennan, McKinnon, Gillesphey, Smith, Aarons (Roberts 65), Quinn (Heardman 74), Gilliead, Olley
