Lyon Owner Promises To ‘Swallow His Pride First’ To Sort Gomis Situation

The never ending Bafetimbi Gomis ‘transfer’ story sums up Newcastle United’s summer.

Then when you add into the mix Joe Kinnear and Lyon’s owner Jean-Michel Aulas, it does conjure up a farcical picture.

From all reports, Aulas appears to have as much credibility in France as Kinnear  has in England.

If any negotiations have actually happened involving Newcastle and Gomis then I have a mental picture in my head of Aulas and JFK as like two ferrets in a sack…I wouldn’t want to put my hand in, that’s for sure.

The latest from Lyon’s owner that went up on the club’s official website was;

“We have to be humble and I am ready to make myself available to discuss the situation with Bafetimbi.

I think we both need to swallow our pride, myself being the first – but there are currently no offers on the table.

Bafetimbi needs to play football and I believe it would be a mistake to stay entrenched in our current positions.

We have to work with his agent and find an amicable resolution that will see him happy to stay at Lyon.”

Safe to say you don’t know what to believe and you still wouldn’t be surprised to see Gomis end up at St.James’ Park IF Aulas falls in line with what Newcastle have potentially offered, or even as Aulas is supposedly suggesting – they come to some arrangement whereby Gomis stays at Lyon….at least until January.

All ifs and buts, a bit like Newcastle United and this fast approaching new season.
