Lyon Coach Now Expects Gomis To Leave With Newcastle Part Of Compromise

8 years ago

The Lyon Coach, Remi Garde, has addressed the Bafetimbi Gomis situation ahead of the French club’s trip to play Sochaux on Friday.

With the player sent to train with the reserves and not featuring in the opening 4-0 win against Nice, surely the only sensible solution will be if Gomis leaves for a fresh start.

Despite previous claims of entrenched positions, Garde is making clear that this brinkmanship could and should be brought to an end, with a compromise expected to be found;

“I have no personal issues with Bafe, he is a player who had played a lot since I took over the team.

He scored 47 goals with me in 2 seasons; thanks to his teammates, the team, the staff.

I think that both of us did things right because he performed well and he finds an environment on & off the pitch which helps him to score.

I expect an ending because we need to find a solution for all 3 of the interested parties.”

Any deal would no doubt be too late to see Gomis (or any other potential new signing) figure on Monday night at the Etihad but as it stands, anything happens to Cisse and Shola would be leading the line…
