Is There Anybody Left At Newcastle United Who Still Has Pride In Their Work?

I think even the most fervent ‘fan’ of Mike Ashley must have come to the conclusion that the owner of out club is playing fast and loose with its future.

In fact most have come to realise that Ashley doesn’t really care what happens to Newcastle United, just so long as he gets his money back (plus a decent amount of interest).

There Used To Be A Football Club Over There

I did hope though that there were still a number inside the club who were doing their best to stop United being seen as a total joke.

I’m beginning to doubt that very much now though, this is what I wrote last week….

Why Mike Ashley bought Newcastle United and what he wants to do with it are at the very heart of countless discussions whenever two or more Newcastle fans meet.

Like all owners of clubs, at some time he will leave.

What concerns me most is what happens in between.

For some bizarre reason I subscribe to Newcastle United’s weekly newsletter, they normally pick some feeble stories to highlight but one thing did catch my eye this time.

This is what was at the bottom of the newsletter;

You were sent this message as a registered supporter of Newcastle United Football Club. If you would prefer not to receive further newsletters login and amend your marketing preferences

Sports Direct Arena, Newcastle Upon Tyne NE1 4ST

The sharper ones amongst you may have noticed the ‘deliberate’ mistake. The sad thing is though that I don’t even think that it is a cynical use of the ‘SD’ name, I just think that Ashley has cut everything at the club to such an extent that they don’t even have enough people working there to avoid embarrassing mistakes such as this.

With the club run in such a shoddy way and on a shoestring, how on earth anybody expects real positive news in the transfer market is quite beyond me.

Now a week further on and I have got the latest newsletter from Newcastle United.

Amongst the uplifting(???) headline articles on it were;

Can United fly out of the starting blocks at Manchester City on Monday night? See them preparing in our exclusive gallery.

Tayls: ‘We can catch City off guard’

While what do we find at the bottom yet again…

Sports Direct Arena, Newcastle Upon Tyne NE1 4ST

How can nobody be bothered enough to change that, it must be a 30 second job but who cares enough to make the effort?

Like most things associated with Newcastle United these days this is an embarrassment, nobody giving a toss.

Talking of people who don’t give a damn, good to see that in two months Joe Kinnear has achieved all the things he claimed he would…
